You may want to start preparing your green waste for recycling during the Tri-Community Green Waste Recycling Days, scheduled for Friday, May 30 through Sunday, June 1, across from the Wrightwood Fire Station on Highway 2. The event will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day and is free for community residents.
Accepted items include pine needles, weeds, branches, tree trimmings, grass, and pine cones. The site cannot accept rocks, dirt, cement, trash, Joshua trees, or palm trees. Limbs must be no larger than 10 inches in diameter, and stumps, roots, and lumber will not be accepted. All loads transported on local roads must be covered.
To assist with this environmentally friendly program, please separate weeds and tree trimmings from pine needles and pine cones. Pine needles do not need to be bagged. Pickup truck and trailer loads are allowed. For easier unloading, consider placing a tarp inside your truck or trailer bed before loading.
The event is presented and sponsored by the Wrightwood Fire Safe Council, Cal Fire, CR&R Environmental, Wrightwood Community Services District, Mountain High, Wrightwood CERT, Mountain Hardware, San Bernardino County Code Enforcement, and San Bernardino County Fire. Funding is provided by the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection’s Fire Prevention Program.
