Get ready to relive your “Childhood Memories” at this year’s Phelan Phamily Phun Days! The fun kicks off on Saturday, Oct. 5, 2024, with a full day of family-friendly festivities from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The day begins at 9 a.m. with the highly anticipated Phun Days Parade, traveling down Phelan Road from Valle Vista Road to Sheep Creek Road. The parade is open to everyone, and anyone can enter for free. However, if you’d like to have your entry judged and be eligible to win trophies, there is a $20 fee. With several divisions and classes to choose from, there’s something for everyone. Pre-register by Sept. 30, 2024, to secure your spot, or register the day of the event. Be sure to arrive early if registering on the day, as entries submitted after the deadline will be placed at the end of the lineup. For spectators, the best viewing spot is near the Chamber Message Board across from Phelan Elementary School, where each parade entry will pause for announcements and judging.
Once the parade wraps up, the excitement continues with the Champagne Classic Car Show. New, old, and performance cars are all welcome to participate, and registration is open until Sept. 29 for online entries. You can also register on the day of the event. Car enthusiasts will also want to catch the Open Header Contest at 12:30 p.m., where the engines will roar as cars parked on Phelan Road show what they got. Please note that, due to insurance requirements, the burnout contest will not take place this year.
Throughout the day, the Phun Days Stage will be the center of lively entertainment and competitions. Starting at 10 a.m., Superior Light & Sound DJ will provide music to keep the energy up, and there will be a variety of contests including hula hoop contests for kids and adults, roping contests sponsored by The Ranch Steakhouse, and pizza-eating contests courtesy of Pizza Factory. New this year are the giant tricycle races, with separate competitions for youth at 2 p.m. and adults at 2:30 p.m. The day’s entertainment also features a dance performance by Studio K at 11 a.m., along with other fun contests that you can sign up for at the Phelan Chamber Information Booth.
Meanwhile, the Phun Zone will be the perfect place for families to enjoy rides and games for kids of all ages. Whether you’re looking to try out the tricycle races or just enjoy some classic carnival fun, the Phun Zone promises plenty of excitement for the young and young-at-heart. All along Phelan Road local vendors and exhibitors will be on hand, offering a variety of goods to explore, and food lovers can indulge in delicious eats at the Phun Days Food Court. For those looking to relax, the Beer Garden will be open, offering refreshing drinks while you enjoy the live music.
As the day winds down, the community will come together for the awards ceremonies. The best entries from the Phun Days Parade will be honored at noon on the Phun Days Stage, while the Champagne Classic Car Show winners will be announced at 3 p.m. Miss Phelan Court, newly crowned, will assist with the day’s activities and ceremonies, adding to the community spirit of the event.
