Opening day for the Sunset Community Little League and Wrightwood Little League is set for Saturday, April 5, bringing the communities of Phelan and Wrightwood together to kick off the 2025 baseball season.
Sunset Community Little League
Sunset Community Little League’s opening day will be held at Phelan Elementary. Festivities begin at 8:30 a.m. with activities on the field, while the official ceremony starts at 10:30 a.m. The ceremony will include the National Anthem, presentation of the Hometown Hero Award, and recognition of all 33 teams consisting of 392 players.
The day will conclude with a showcase game featuring four of the Majors 12-year-old teams: Orioles vs. Dodgers and Lobos vs. Warriors softball.
Throughout the day, attendees can enjoy food from local vendors, including Street Treats and Christyl’s Waffles. There will also be a fundraiser raffle with various prizes, a gear-swap table, and the fan wear shop offering this season’s merchandise. Community members can donate blood with Life Stream, visit the San Bernardino Fire Department, Y102 Radio, and the Phelan Pinon Hills Community Service District. Wrightwood Little League
Meanwhile, Wrightwood Little League’s opening day will also take place on April 5 at 8:30 a.m. on the lower field at Wrightwood Elementary. The day starts with a pancake breakfast served by the Serrano High School Fire Cadets, sponsored by local fire department 935, for just $5.
The opening ceremony will include team introductions and a special surprise guest throwing out the first pitch. Games will be held throughout the day, and community members are encouraged to participate and support the teams.
The Little League baseball season is a cherished time for the communities of Phelan and Wrightwood, providing an opportunity for players, families, and community members to come together and celebrate the start of the season.
