The women of Our Lady of the Snows Catholic Church in Wrightwood invite the community to a Feast Day Meal in honor of St. Joseph. Known as St. Joseph’s Table, this traditional dinner will be held Wednesday, March 19, from 5-6 p.m. (or until food runs out) at the Wrightwood Community Building.
Donations will be accepted at the statue of St. Joseph inside the Community Building. Funds raised will support repairs at Our Lady of the Snows Catholic Church.
St. Joseph, recognized as the patron of workers and protector of families, is honored with this meal, an age-old Italian tradition. According to legend, centuries ago, a famine struck Sicily, and villagers prayed to St. Joseph for relief. When their prayers were answered, wealthy families prepared grand feasts to give thanks, inviting the less fortunate to share in the meal.
The celebration traditionally begins with a religious tableau, where selected participants portray the Holy Family, seated at the head of the table alongside Apostles and children dressed as angels. The village priest blesses the food, and the Holy Family is served first, followed by all guests, who may come and go as they please.
St. Joseph’s Table is a solemn yet joyful gathering, bringing the community together in faith, gratitude, and generosity.
