This September, the San Bernardino County Library (SBCL), in collaboration with the San Bernardino County Museum (SBCM), invites you to celebrate Library Card Sign-Up Month to discover how a single card can open the door to endless opportunities.
This year’s theme, “One Card, Endless Possibilities,” is a reminder that libraries are for everyone—no matter your age, background, or goals. Whether you’re diving into a new hobby, searching for your next great read, brushing up on tech skills, or helping your child succeed in school, it all starts with a library card.
Getting a SBCL library card is free, easy, empowering, and can be done at our local Phelan and Wrightwood branches! Your library card can be used at all 32 branches within San Bernardino County. For students, it’s a key to academic success. For adults, it serves as a gateway to lifelong learning. For everyone, it’s a smart way to stay connected to your community.
To bring learning beyond traditional walls, visitors can also sign up for a free library card directly at SBCM, eliminating the need to visit a library branch. This partnership bridges the gap between exhibits and reading, allowing guests to continue their journey of discovery from the museum galleries to the pages of countless books and digital resources.
“Our mission has always been to inspire curiosity and lifelong learning,” said SBCL Program Coordinator Elizabeth Williams. “By partnering with the museum, we’re making it easier for our community to access the tools they need to explore, learn, and grow.”

With your free library card, you have access to check out a SBCM pass once every 30 days, which provides one-day free admission for up to two adults and three children to SBCM or the Victor Valley Museum. It also affords you the ability to check out a California State Park pass, which provides free day-use vehicle entry for one vehicle at over 200 participating California State Parks.
You are invited to unlock endless possibilities with a SBCL card! From books and audiobooks to e-resources, online classes, and exclusive access to tools like Libby, a library card is your gateway to knowledge and adventure. Sign up today and explore everything they have to offer—all free with your library card!
