The Wrightwood Fire Safe Council is hosting the Wildfire & Disaster Awareness Day on May 11, 2024, from 10 am to 3 pm in the parking lot of Mountain Hardware at 1390 Hwy 2 in Wrightwood. Are you and your family aware of who to contact or what to do in case of an emergency
The event will have representatives from Angeles and San Bernardino National Forests, CalFire, LA County Agricultural Commission, SBC Code Enforcement, SBC Fire Dept, SBC Fire Emergency Communications Service, Wrightwood CERT, and Wrightwood Fire Safe Council, who will be available to answer questions and perform demonstrations. Come with your family to learn how these departments help our community and have fun with CERT demos, fire trucks, meeting Smokey Bear and Sparky the Fire Dog. Plus, there is free popcorn and a free kids’ Mother’s Day project offered by Mountain Hardware.
The event is sponsored by Wrightwood Fire Safe Council, CalFire, CR&R Environmental, Wrightwood CSD, Mountain High, Wrightwood CERT, Mountain Hardware, SBC Code Enforcement, and SBC Fire. The funding is provided by California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection’s Fire Prevention Program.
Also, don’t forget to plan ahead for the Tri-Community Green Waste & Pine Needle Drop-off from May 31 to June 2 in Wrightwood, located across from the Fire Station. The event accepts tree trimmings, grass, and pine cones, and the loads must be covered. Please note that no rocks, dirt, cement, trash, Joshua, or palm trees will be accepted. The drop off is open from 9 am to 3 pm each day.
