It’s time to “spring forward” and set your clocks ahead one hour! Daylight saving time begins Sunday, March 9, so don’t forget to adjust your clocks before heading to bed Saturday night.
While you’re at it, this is also a great time to check and replace the batteries in your smoke and carbon monoxide detectors to ensure they are working properly.
Spring officially begins March 20, marking the vernal equinox, when day and night are nearly equal in length. On this day, the sun crosses the celestial equator, rising due east and setting due west. The word “equinox” comes from Latin, meaning “equal night.”
Longer days and warmer weather are on the way—happy spring!
