San Bernardino County will help provide free tax preparation and e-filing services for low- to moderate-income taxpayers that earned less than $60,000 in 2022. The County Transitional Assistance Department is partnering with the IRS to provide the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) and Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) program.
According to the Transitional Assistance Director, Gilbert Ramos, “VITA ensures eligible taxpayers have access to the EITC and other federal and state credits that put money back into the pockets of San Bernardino County’s working families and individuals.”
Through the VITA program, both Federal and California state returns are prepared and e-filed by IRS-certified tax preparers and volunteers. Residents of the Tri-Community who qualify for this service can make an appointment at either the Phelan Memorial Library or the Wrightwood Branch Library. This free tax preparation will be offered on Monday, March 13th, from 11:30 am-4:00 pm at the Phelan Library and Monday, March 27th, from 11:30 am-6:00 pm at the Wrightwood Library. Eligible individuals need to call (909) 421-4091 or (909) 421-0493 to book an appointment for either of these days.
Additional appointments can be scheduled at the Victorville (760) 552-6175 or Hesperia (760) 956-4696 Transitional Assistance Department branches. Day and evening appointments are available Monday through Friday and Saturday at these High Desert locations.
