San Bernardino County will help provide free tax preparation and e-filing services for low- to moderate-income taxpayers that earned less than $60,000 in 2022. The County Transitional Assistance Department is partnering with the IRS to provide the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) and Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) program.
According to the Transitional Assistance Director, Gilbert Ramos, “VITA ensures eligible taxpayers have access to the EITC and other federal and state credits that put money back into the pockets of San Bernardino County’s working families and individuals.”
Through the VITA program, both Federal and California state returns are prepared and e-filed by IRS-certified tax preparers and volunteers. Eligible San Bernardino County taxpayers can schedule an appointment by calling either the Victorville (760) 552-6175 or Hesperia (760) 956-4696 Transitional Assistance Department branches. Day and evening appointments are available Monday through Friday and Saturday.
Additional appointments can also be scheduled at SBC Library locations, including Wrightwood and Phelan. To schedule an appointment at these remote locations with limited days and hours, call (909) 421-4091 or (909) 421-0493.
