Fourth of July Fireworks: A brief history of the Independence Day tradition and where to see firework shows this year

What better way to spend Independence Day than with an amazing fireworks show. America’s long standing tradition of displaying fireworks on the Fourth of July begun in Philadelphia on July 4th, 1777 when ships would fire cannons to salute and honor the newly established 13 U.S. colonies. Today, there is plenty of firework celebrations happening all across the US and some are taking place in the nearby desert, city, and mountain communities. Here is a list of when and where to find nearby Fourth of July firework displays this year.

DESERTS

The City of Victorville is hosting their annual 4th of July fireworks show on Tuesday, July 4th at the San Bernardino County Fairgrounds. San Bernardino County Fairgrounds 14800 7th Street Victorville, CA

The Town of Apple Valley will be having their Freedom Festival on Tuesday, July 4th at Brewster Park. There will be live entertainment featuring: Phoenix Rising and The Silverados. Activities include food vendors, and a beer garden from 2pm-9pm. The fireworks show starts at 9pm and is free to the public. The HD Food Shack welcomes the High Desert community to a Block Party and Firework Show in Adelanto. Enjoy food, drinks, music, games and more inside of the Adelanto Plaza and Event Center. MOUNTAINS

The Crestline Chamber of Commerce will be having their annual Jamboree Days celebration on Saturday, July 1st. The day starts with a parade at 10am at the top of Crest Forest Dr. and continues down Lake Dr. where it will end at Lake Gregory. There will be local shopping, dining and a beer garden in the parking lot of Arrowhead Credit Union at 23971 Lake Drive from 11am-7pm. CITIES

The City of Rancho Cucamonga will be hosting a Fireworks Spectacular at the Quakes Stadium on Tuesday, July 4th. Enjoy a fun-filled evening of food, live entertainment, and fireworks. Tickets cost $15 each and the parking lot will open at 5:30 p.m. Entertainment and activities start at 6:30 and the fireworks show begins at 9:00 pm. Quakes Stadium 8408 Rochester Ave, Rancho Cucamonga, CA 91730

What’s more American than celebrating Independence day with a baseball game and hot dogs. The San Manuel Stadium in San Bernardino is home to the Inland Empire 66ers baseball team. The team will be playing against the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes on Tuesday, July 4th.
