Caltrans is currently working on rehabilitating 59 miles of lanes, ramps, and drainage systems on Interstate 15 (I-15) in San Bernardino County. The project stretches from Oak Hill Road in Hesperia to just south of Bear Valley Road in Victorville.
Crews are continuing with excavation and paving operations both northbound and southbound, weather permitting. However, in observance of the Labor Day Holiday weekend, there will be no lane closures or work taking place from Friday, September 1 at 6:00 a.m. to Tuesday, September 5 at 6:00 p.m. Additionally, the northbound Joshua Street on ramp will be closed beginning September 11 and will reopen on September 22 at 4:00 a.m.
During the the week of August 28, Monday through Thursday, there will be alternating lane closures, possibly bringing lanes down to one, from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 a.m. on the northbound I-15 from Oak Hill Rd to Bear Valley Rd. Similarly, from 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m., there will be alternating lane closures on the southbound I-15 from Bear Valley Rd to Oak Hill Rd.
All on/off ramps are subject to intermittent closures for crew safety and related roadwork. Additionally, a traffic swap is in place north of the US 395 on the I-15, where the northbound traffic is detoured into the median to enable crews to remove and replace concrete.
Furthermore, connector closures may take place at the NB/SB I-15 to NB/SB US 395 during operations. Motorists are advised to watch for signage and be alert to work trucks entering and exiting from center median.
In the event of rain, lanes #1 and #2 in both northbound and southbound directions will close due to potential flooding. To avoid delays, motorists are urged to use SR-138 to SR-18 in Phelan back to I-15 as a detour. However, please use caution and remember to reduce your speed when approaching and driving through the construction zones.
Caltrans advises motorists to be patient and plan ahead for possible delays. Remember to always follow posted speed limits and take extra care when driving through construction zones.
