The Phelan-Pinon Hills CSD Parks & Recreation Department has announce a host of Summer events for the Tri-Community. From Movies in the Park and Painting in the Park to Kids Archery Lessons and Community Teaching Garden Classes, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.
A favorite among families is the Summer Movie Nights, held on Friday evenings at dusk in the Phelan Community Park throughout June and July. Attendees are encouraged to bring their chairs and blankets. The movie lineup includes “Elemental” on June 7th, “Ruby Gillman, Teenage Kraken” on June 14th, “Wonka” on June 21st, and “The Little Mermaid” on June 28th. Hosted by the Tri-Communty Kiwanis, no RSVP is required for Movie Nights.
Additionally, the PPHCSD is offering complimentary fun classes for kids and adults during the summer. Classes are free, but RSVP is required at www.pphcsd.org/sign-up-for-classes and minors must be accompanied by an adult. The Kid’s Summer Baking Class on Saturday, June 8th from 10am-12noon at the Phelan Senior Center will teach kids aged 5-17 how to make Summer Fruit Tarts. Painting in the Park with Shine Bright Paint will take place on Thursdays, June 13, 20, and 27th, with classes for ages 5-12 at 9am and ages 13 and up at 11am. Kid’s Archery Lessons with the Mojave Archers will be offered at 4093 Olivera Road in Phelan on Thursday, June 13, 20, and 27th from 9am-11am, with bows and arrows provided during class.
And, the Community Teaching Garden Class, taught by Master Gardener Michelle Hannon, will be held every second Saturday of the month at 10am at the Phelan Community Park, covering a different topic each month. June’s topic is Pest Control, and the classes are free with no RSVP required.
With such a diverse range of events, the Summer promises to be an exciting time for the Tri-Community.
