Eagle Scout Project Will Update Lighting In The Wrightwood Community Building

Tri-Community NewsPlus

Boy Scout Davy Schneider and Ben Sutter are working on their Eagle Scout Project.  They plan to improve the lighting system for the stage located in the Wrightwood Community Center by splitting the lighting into two sections: the stage and the other for the audience.

For a cinematic effect, three light bars will be positioned in front of the curtains, pointing downward. Three other bars will be at the very back of the stage to provide good lighting for backstage set pieces. Circular light bars will be positioned on each side of the stage facing the center stage. The primary purpose of these lights will be to illuminate whoever is onstage.  For the audience lighting, these young gentlemen will utilize two existing floodlights mounted to the ceiling.

All the new lighting will be able to change colors as needed.  A single controller will operate the stage and audience lighting mounted to the east wall, with a cable outlet mounted in the drop-ceiling directly above it.  They will remove all the current backstage lighting, and the existing projector screen will be relocated to behind the curtain.

This project is expected to take two months, and the boys will receive help from additional boy scouts and troop leaders.  These young gentlemen have requested a $3000 allowance from the per capita grant funds to fund this project.
