On December 21st at 10 am, Christ’s Church of the Canyon Snow Players will be performing their original Christmas play production of “The Time Machine: Family Ties 2” at Wrightwood Elementary. Everyone is welcome to come out and enjoy the play free of charge.
The play is based on a boy graduating from high school. He finds an old time machine and brings characters from the bible into his garage, where they tell the story of Jesus. Noel Robins wrote this play and all other plays performed by the Snow Players. It took Robins two weeks to write this play. She has been writing plays for 35 years. Each year, she does three big plays and multiple shorter plays for the Snow Players to perform.
Robins came up with the idea to do this play because six years ago, the Snow Players performed the original play called “The Time Machine”. A few of the Players are now grown up and in college, and wanted to perform their favorite play one more time as a sequel. Robins shared why she enjoys writing plays: “It’s an incredible way to share God’s word, in a creative and memorable way, using young people.”
In one sentence, Robins described this play as “Memorable and all of history was waiting to be redeemed.” Robins also shared, “I hope during the play that the audience feels that Christmas is more than tinsel, more than hectic schedules and wrapped gifts. That Christmas is the climax to the greatest story ever told, the moment when God stepped into time.”
The Time Machine: Family Ties 2 will be performed on December 21st at 10 am at the Wrightwood Elementary School auditorium, located at 1175 CA-2, Wrightwood. Christ’s Church of the Canyon will also be holding a Christmas Eve service on December 24th at 7 pm in the same location.
