Barkingham Palace, a beloved local pet grooming business, is celebrating a major milestone this October with 20 years in business. Previously located on Phelan Road next to El Patron Mexican Restaurant for the past 17 years, the business recently relocated to Pinon Hills after a significant rent increase.
“We’re still here [in the Tri-Community]. Yes, we had a little phone problem, but we’ve fixed it, and we’re still happy to take your pets,” said Rosemary Olney, owner and groomer at Barkingham Palace. Rosemary has transformed a portion of her Pinon Hills ranch property into a dedicated grooming space, continuing to serve her loyal clientele.

The new location is centrally situated at 1055 Juniper Road in Pinon Hills, just two blocks away from the Pinon Hills Post Office. It features two grooming trailers inside a secure, fenced area which offers far more room to grow than their previous 500-square-foot brick-and-mortar location.
Rosemary, an experienced groomer, began her craft by grooming her own sheep and goats, which she entered into shows and competitions. Her grooming journey began when she was hired by Shelly Coulter, the original owner of Barkingham Palace. Coulter recognized Rosemary’s potential, trained her personally, and later sold her the business.

To stay current with industry trends, Rosemary attends the annual Groom Expo West in Los Angeles, which is one of the largest professional grooming events in the country and attracts skilled groomers from all over the world. Rosemary mentioned that it’s one of the highlights of her year, as she enjoys looking at all the new products and watching the impressive grooming competitions.
Rosemary’s passion for animals extends beyond her daily work of just grooming. On her days off, she and her daughter participate in horse carriage shows, which judge the elegance and presentation of the horse, carriage, harness, and driver. The duo travels with their horses to compete in these events throughout the region. You can see them in their next competition on Sunday, June 15th, at the McCoy Equestrian Centers Horse Show located at 14280 Peyton Drive in Chino Hills.

Now, after two successful decades in business, Rosemary is optimistic about the transition. “We’re a work in progress, but we’re making progress,” she said of the move to her new location.
Barkingham Palace remains committed to serving the Tri-Community and invites residents in Wrightwood, Phelan, and Pinon Hills to book grooming appointments for their furry companions. With the warmer weather, Rosemary is busy with de-shedding and seasonal strip-downs for dogs, but she also offers nail-clipping services for cats.
Appointments can be made by calling their main line at 760-868-9961. Booking is available Tuesday through Saturday, starting at 9 a.m.
