The San Bernardino County Library’s Wrightwood Branch Library has temporarily closed for a major interior remodel, with work underway and a planned reopening in time for the Summer Reading Program beginning June 8.
The closure began March 11 to allow for upgrades that include new flooring, shelving, paint and other improvements aimed at refreshing the facility for the community.
While the building is closed, library services remain available through digital resources and nearby branches. Residents can access e-books and online services 24/7, or visit neighboring locations including the Phelan Memorial Library, 9800 Clovis Road in Phelan; the Apple Valley Newton T. Bass Branch Library, 14901 Dale Evans Parkway in Apple Valley; and the Hesperia Branch Library, 9650 Seventh Ave. in Hesperia.
To help maintain local access, the county is providing an Adventure Truck on site in Wrightwood on Mondays and Tuesdays from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Services include free printing and scanning, book hold pickups and returns.
Regular programs are also continuing in modified form. Book club meetings for April and May will be held at the Wrightwood Art Center, 6045 Park Drive.
The Friends of the Wrightwood Library will remain active during the closure, including plans for their annual Spring Basket Fundraiser at the Wrightwood Farmers Market during the first two Fridays in May. The group is currently accepting donations of hardcover fiction only; residents are asked to hold other items and call 760-713-2458 to arrange drop-offs.
Library officials and volunteers encourage residents to stay updated through the Friends’ website and social media channels as the renovation progresses.
The remodeled Wrightwood Branch Library is expected to reopen in early June, with staff and volunteers looking forward to welcoming the community back to an updated space ahead of the busy summer season.
