The Wrightwood Property Owners Association is seeking volunteers for the Adopt-A-Highway program along Highway 2 during the summer months. The Caltrans Adopt-A-Highway program allows organizations to take responsibility for maintaining designated sections of roadside within California’s state highway system.

The Wrightwood Property Owners Association (WWPOA) oversees the local effort in Wrightwood and is responsible for a two-mile stretch of Highway 2, divided into eight sections, from Wright Mountain Road through town to Cardinal Road.

The Adopt-A-Highway cleanup schedule runs one week each month, from Saturday through the following Sunday, during April through October. Once volunteers sign up and are assigned a section, they may collect litter, debris, and trash in that area at their convenience during the designated week. Volunteers must be at least 16 years old to participate.

No cleanups will take place from November 2026 through February 2027, with the program set to resume in March 2027.

Martha McFauls is the Volunteer Coordinator and oversees training, equipment management, distribution, and scheduling of cleanup activities. Caltrans provides all necessary safety gear and equipment for volunteers.

Anyone interested in volunteering or learning more can contact McFauls at [email protected] or [email protected], or by phone at 626-488-0457.
