Studio K first opened its doors to eager dancers of all levels and abilities in 2006. In 2023, founding owner Miss Katy began searching for a successor to take over ownership and continue running the studio. Amy Verdin decided to take on the task and officially became the new owner on Jan. 1, 2024.
“The idea of the dance studio not continuing was devastating,” expressed Amy. Along with a new owner came an updated name—Studio K Dance Center became Studio K Dance Collective!
Studio K offers a variety of dance classes for kids of all ages and abilities. At 18 months of age, your little ones can start with a Wiggles and Giggles parent-participation class. At age 3, kids can begin to explore different types of dance with a tap/ballet combo class. From there, young dance enthusiasts can progress to higher levels of tap and ballet while exploring the studio’s additional offerings, which include jazz, hip-hop, and contemporary/lyrical dance. A sensory-friendly creative movement adaptive class, designed for kids with developmental disabilities, is also offered weekly.

“Kids of all abilities are welcome at Studio K Dance Collective,” stated Amy. “Having access to dance and seeing them thrive is important to us.”
For dancers ages 9–18, a Stretch and Technique class is offered at two different times during the week: Thursday evenings and Saturday mornings.

While Studio K is a recreational dance studio, it also has a competition team with open enrollment held in the summer for dancers ages 5–18. The competition team, a reflection of the skills learned in the recreational classes, prepares to compete in up to five competitions each spring. One of their own, 15-year-old Claire Premo, won first place in a national competition in July 2024. Not only is Claire winning competitions as a dancer extraordinaire, but she also teaches beginning tap at the studio.

In November 2024, the studio added an adult tap class to its schedule. While this isn’t the first time adult classes have been offered, it had been several years since they were available. This hourlong class is open to adults of all ages and skill levels, with modifications offered as needed.
“Joining the adult tap class with Ms. Keri at Studio K has been such a rewarding challenge! Tap isn’t easy, but she breaks it down in a way that makes it fun to learn, and the group is so encouraging. It’s a great way to push yourself, stay active, and have a blast with an amazing group of people,” shared Tiffanie Hewes.

Studio K offers more than just dance to the Tri-Community. There is a choir class for kids ages 7–18 that runs year-round. For those looking to perfect their singing, one-on-one vocal lessons are also available. Aspiring musicians can sign up for one-on-one piano lessons as well.

If someone in your family is into theater, Studio K has you covered. The audition process includes kids singing a memorized song, reading lines, and learning choreography. Every child who auditions receives a part in the play. During the summer/fall season, the cast works hard to learn songs, lines, and choreography, with director Cheryl Buckle leading the way. In 2023, they performed Elf Jr., and last year, Annie Kids was a huge success.

For homeschool families, Studio K is charter-friendly. They are currently approved with Sage Oak, Granite Mountain, and Sky Mountain and are open to adding more. Classes taken through the studio can count as PE credit.
“We have a great group of dedicated teachers with so much experience,” shared Amy. “People say it feels like a family and a home away from home.”
