The 2025 elections have concluded, and the following individuals have been elected to represent their communities starting in January across various districts and boards in the greater San Bernardino County area, including Phelan, Pinon Hills, and Wrightwood.
Education
The new Snowline School Board member for Area 2 in Phelan is Corey LaFever, a local sheriff’s sergeant and dedicated Snowline parent, who will serve a four-year term on the board.
Chappelle M. Griffin was elected to the Victor Valley Community College District for District 3, which includes Phelan, Pinon Hills, and Wrightwood. Stephen Tyrrell was also elected to the Victor Valley College Board, representing District 5, which includes areas of Phelan and Pinon Hills north of Highway 138.
Community Service Districts
Incumbents Deborah J. Philips and Rebecca A. Kujawa were both re-elected to serve as directors on the Phelan Pinon Hills Community Services District for four years. Jenna Mills, a local business owner of Mills Hardware, was appointed to a short-term seat and attended her first board meeting on Nov. 13, where all three directors were sworn into office.
Martha McFauls and Rick J. Christensen are both first-time directors elected to serve on the Wrightwood Community Services District for four-year terms. They were sworn into office at a special WCSD meeting on Dec. 6, 2024. Kurt Watson was appointed to the WCSD board in October 2024, filling a short-term vacant seat following the resignation of the late Director Chuck Franklin.
San Bernardino County
The 2025 county ballot measures that passed for Phelan, Pinon Hills, and Wrightwood included Measure J, a Snowline School Bond allowing the Snowline Joint Unified School District to issue $70.6 million in bonds to fund school improvements. The bond requires an estimated property tax levy of $40 per $100,000 in assessed value and passed with 58.19% of the vote.
Measure L also passed with 61.35% of the vote. It amends the county charter to set compensation for specific elected county officials, such as the sheriff and district attorney, and establishes a minimum funding level for patrol personnel in unincorporated areas throughout San Bernardino County.
Measure K, which proposed increasing the transient occupancy tax to 11% to fund general public services, did not pass.
At the county level, former San Bernardino County Supervisor Josie Gonzales was elected as the short-term San Bernardino County assessor/recorder.
The November election also brought key races throughout the state of California. Below is a list of winners and state measures that passed.
