History buffs young and old will enjoy learning the legacy of the Willys Jeep beginning with the role the first Little Willys played in helping the Americans and their Allies win World War II. Just before the end of the war, Willys Motors began the transition of turning the War Willys into a Civilian Jeep and named it the CJ-2 (Civilian Jeep). Following the war, Willys began marketing the CJ as a Universal Jeep to ranchers, farmers, miners and loggers. The Jeep quickly became very popular with hunters, fishermen and others who enjoyed getting off road and into the areas less traveled. The Jeep is considered by some the have become the first American SUV.
