The Snowline Joint Unified School District recently announced that 12 of its schools have earned statewide recognition for their commitment to Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) through the California PBIS statewide organization.
According to the California PBIS website, implementation is supported by the state’s Multi-Tiered System of Support framework. The recognition highlights the work of staff, students and families in building safe, supportive and thriving school environments that set the stage for academic and personal success. Therefore, schools have to apply for the prestigious awards and are recognized at the bronze, silver, gold or platinum levels for their commitment to the model and their impact on student outcomes.
This year, the California PBIS awarded 2,517 schools throughout the state, and 12 Snowline Schools were included in the 2024-2025 Recognition program:

What is PBIS?
PBIS is a framework used in schools across the nation to improve student behavior, promote social-emotional growth and create positive school climates. Rather than focusing solely on discipline, PBIS emphasizes teaching and reinforcing clear expectations, celebrating positive choices, and providing interventions and supports when students struggle.
It is a proactive, evidence-based system built on three tiers of support: universal strategies for all students, targeted help for those at risk, and intensive interventions for individuals with the greatest needs. By addressing behavior in layers, PBIS ensures schools can meet students where they are and help every child succeed, which is designed to help all students feel safe, respected, and ready to learn.
At Snowline, PBIS is a cornerstone of the district’s mission to educate, inspire and prepare. By establishing consistent expectations and creating supportive environments, PBIS provides the building blocks of education—ensuring classrooms are focused on learning, students are encouraged to grow and everyone feels empowered to succeed.
“PBIS is more than just a recognition—it’s a reflection of our district-wide commitment to creating environments where every student can thrive,” said Robert Chacon, public information officer for the Snowline Joint Unified School District. “We are incredibly proud of our schools and communities for their dedication to this work, which directly supports our mission to educate, inspire, and prepare.”
Snowline congratulates each school on this achievement and thanks the staff, families, and community members who make this success possible. And with these statewide honors, Snowline reaffirms its mission to educate, inspire, and prepare, building on the momentum of PBIS to create stronger, more supportive schools not only for this school year, but for years to come.
