Now a lasting tradition of Wrightwood, the 15th annual Memorial Day Ceremony in the Village of Wrightwood will see residents of the Tri-Community Area gather Monday, May 29th, to commemorate America’s Memorial Day with singing, short speeches, and pageantry. This heart-warming ceremony begins promptly at 11 a.m., reports Allan Miller, President of the local Wrightwood Veterans Memorial group.
Highlighting this year’s event will be the setting of honor bricks for local Veterans in the Courtyard surrounding the Veterans Memorial. As Veterans and members of the military place orders for honor bricks, the local Veterans Memorial group will place the bricks twice a year, before Memorial Day and Veterans Day.
Claudia Campbell will thrill attendees with the singing of the National Anthem, Lora Steinmann will lead her Wrightwood Chorus singing patriotic songs, and Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts will handle the pageantry. Captain Tom Pinard promises a meaningful talk on those Veterans who came to Wrightwood following World War II and Korean War and who did so much to contribute to the community we all live in.
Harlan Lassiter has coordinated ordering of new shirts, Navy Blue this year, for sale this year, along with popular shirts of previous years.
The Veterans Memorial is located at 1274 Evergreen Road in the Village Center of Wrightwood; our Wrightwood Community Service District maintains the Memorial Grounds. Everyone is invited and urged to attend.
