The Wrightwood Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) will be holding its monthly meeting on Thursday, February 22nd, at 6:50 pm in the Wrightwood Community Building. All community members are invited to come and learn First Aid techniques including the proper use of tourniquets, which help to stop or constrict life-threatening bleeding. The meeting will also cover how to properly bandage a wound or injury in the event of an emergency.
Wrightwood CERT will also be offering a HAM Radio Technician Class in Wrightwood from May 17th-19th. The class will be taught by instructor Rick Danzey, and students must attend all three days. The Technician Class license is an entry-level license that allows you to be very involved in HAM radio and is a great place to start for new HAM radio operators. The cost is $15 to take the exam. Once you pass the exam, an additional $35 is needed for the FCC (Federal Communications Commission) to issue you a certified license.
