Wrightwood Veterans Memorial supporters will gather with community members on Wednesday, November 11th, at 11am to celebrate their annual Veterans Day commemoration. Allan Miller, President of the local group, invites the community to participate with all the caution that this time in America’s life finds itself in. Social distancing will be urged along with those attending to wear masks.
The traditional ceremony will be limited this year, without the Serrano Band and other youth groups’ participation.
With that said, Veterans Day Coordinator, Captain Tom Pinard, indicates that most of the normal ceremony will take place with Pastor Dave providing the inspirational invocation and benediction, Claudia Campbell singing the National Anthem, and the Boy Scouts providing Flag Services. The Wreath honoring Veterans Service will be presented, and special recognition for Veterans Services will be given to San Bernardino County Supervisor Robert Lovingood, who retires this year after eight years supporting the Wrightwood Veterans Memorial and Veterans throughout the Tri-Community Area.
The local Veterans will begin their ceremony with the ringing of the Armistice Bell eleven times, signifying the end of World War I. The Veterans Memorial is located on Evergreen Road, between Pine St and Park Drive, in the Village Center of Wrightwood.
