It’s a busy weekend with lots to do around the Tri-Community. Here is a roundup of the events and activities that are scheduled for this weekend. The weather this weekend looks to be pleasant with Phelan and Pinon Hills on the sunny side with highs around 83 degrees and lows between 54-57 degrees. And in Wrightwood expect sunny weather in the mid to upper 70s and lows down to 47 degrees.

On Friday, September 17, 2021

Senior Line Dancing – From 8:30am – 11:00am, great fun and exercise while learning to line dance and the best part is it’s FREE! Location: Phelan Senior Center at the Phelan Community Park, 4176 Warbler Road in Phelan.

Wrightwood Farmers Market – From 4:00pm – 7:00pm, locally grown fresh produce, artisan baked goods, jams, coffee, olive oil, honey, natural beauty products & soaps, and crafters can often be found at the Market. In the Wrightwood Community Building in Wrightwood, at the corner of Park Drive and Hwy 2.

Friday Night Steak Dinner At The VFW – From 5:00-7:00pm, all are welcome to visit the VFW and get a complete delicious steak dinner ($18), rib dinner($16) or alternate dinner($12) and support the local Veterans of Foreign Wars Post in Phelan. Location: VFW Post 9415 in Phelan at the corner of Nielson and Johnson Roads.

Senior UNO Game Evening – From 6:00 – 9:00pm, Seniors are welcome to enjoy an evening of UNO with drinks and dessert. Location: Phelan Senior Center at the Phelan Community Park, 4176 Warbler Road in Phelan.

Movies In The Park: Lego Movie – Starts at 7:00 pm, bring you lawn chair and enjoy a great evening in the park watching a great movie. Concessions are available from the Serrano Key Club. Location: Phelan Community Park 4176 Warbler Road in Phelan.

On Saturday, September 18, 2021

Community Clean-up & Tire Day – 8:00 am – 12:00 pm, Free residential trash, yard waste and tire collection. Only nine tires accepted per vehicle. No hazardous waste, e-waste, or commercial waste or tires will be accepted. This event is for Phelan Pinon Hills CSD residents only and may need to show proof of residency. Location: CR&R Service Yard at 9828 Buckwheat Rd, in Phelan.

WW Skate Park Dillon Adams Dedication Fundraiser – Starts at 12:00 pm, this fundraiser will benefit the Dillon Adams Memorial who died in a car accident at age 17. Dillon spent many hours at the WW Skatepark along with many friends. Funds will help place a plaque, bench and other benefits to the park. Location: Pharmacy Board Shop in Wrightwood (Across from the Post Office).

Broadsheets Exhibit – 1:00pm – 4:00pm, Broadsheets were first used to print ballads, news info, proclamations, government business and notes of meetings. This free exhibit and presentation begins at 1:00pm at the Wrightwood Arts Center located in Wrightwood above the Village Grind on Park Drive.

On Sunday, September 19, 2021

Poetry Day Workshops & Free Poetry reading & Open Mic – 10:30am – 12:30pm & 2:00pm, register for either Kathleen McClung or Michael Meyerhofer’s workshop at www.wrightwoodarts.com. There is a $20 fee for the workshop. At 2:00pm there will be a poetry reading, signing and open mic that is free to attend/participate and is open to the public. Location: Wrightwood Community Building at the corner of Park Drive and Hwy 2.
