Are you looking for a special book to read instead of spring cleaning? Then the Phelan Memorial Library is the place to stop by on Saturday, April 12, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Bring a bag or take one provided and fill it with books for only $5. A large selection will be available in the library parking lot. Inside the library at the bookstore, you will also find specialty and vintage selections for purchase. All proceeds will benefit the library’s programs. This is a Friends of the Library event. Information will be available at the sale for anyone interested in becoming a “Friend.” Books can be donated to the library during regular business hours, but please limit donations to two boxes at a time. Phelan Memorial Library is located at 9800 Clovis Road, across from the Phelan Post Office.
During the month of April, Wrightwood Library will feature a special historic section of books and DVDs for sale in the bookstore, focusing on the Civil War. The Wrightwood Bookstore is open during regular library hours.
Both libraries will also host a family painting event in April. Wrightwood Library’s Step-by-Step class will take place on Thursday, April 17, at 4 p.m. Phelan Memorial Library will hold a new Paint-A-Thon, a paint-by-number event, on Saturday, April 26. Attendees can drop by any time between noon and 4 p.m. to participate.
In celebration of Earth Day, Wrightwood Library will host a Dr. Seuss-themed craft event featuring Lorax crafts and a plant-potting activity. The event will take place on Thursday, April 24, at 4 p.m.
