During the month of August, Rick’s Auto experienced two break-ins in crimes that seem to be related. During the after-hours of August 12, the east side of the shop’s fence was cut through, and two tires were stolen from a customer’s Mazda 3. On the 23rd, the burglars returned and stole the vehicle’s other two tires.
Richard Manz is the owner of Rick’s Auto, and he believes that this was a crime committed by locals. The thieves brought everything they needed for the heist with them. “Evidently they know I have cameras, cause they always kept their back to the camera.” A police report was filed both times, but so far, nothing has come of it.
The month of August saw an increase in crimes committed to local shops. On August 26, Downtown Burgers had a work truck replacing several windows at their restaurant that were damaged when it was vandalized earlier in the month. Residents also reported that Little Caesars had their front windows smashed during the month. What Manz wants people to keep in mind is that if you see something, say something.
