Covid-19 still has control over our forest, and it’s having a negative effect. Due to reduced staffing, maintenance throughout is suffering. While hiking and picnicking is still officially allowed in most areas, forest trash pickup is sporadic at best. Therefore, please take home your trash.
You’re better off using bathrooms at home before or after your visit. If you do find an open bathroom, be ready to supply your own toilet paper. As of July 2nd, only the campsites ran by the concessionaires, Table Mountain, (Jackson) Lake, and Mountain Oak, are officially open. For reservations and update info, call 877-4446777 or go on-line www.recreation.gov. Grassy Hollow Visitors Center and Big Pines Information Station are still closed. Summer is upon us, many will surely want to escape to the mountains to cool off.
