The Supervisors approved environmental work for the planned Phelan Road widening project at the Board of Supervisor’s meeting held on March 24, 2020. The project will widen Phelan Road between Highway 395 and Highway 138. Approximately 12,000 vehicles travel Phelan Road every day. “This is a greatly needed project that will improve traffic flow along this important roadway,” Supervisor Lovingood said. The environmental work will be funded through the San Bernardino County Transportation Authority Measure “I” funds, the countywide half-cent sales tax. Construction of the approximately 12-mile widening project is expected to be completed by early 2025.
