Phelan-Pinon Hills CSD is offering three free classes in October. The monthly Community Teaching Garden class will be held on Saturday, October 14th, at 10 a.m. The topic is Harvesting and Storing Vegetables and Fruits, taught by Master Gardener Michelle Hannon. Her classes are free and held on the 2nd Saturday of each month in the Community Garden at the Phelan Community Park. All ages are welcome. Following this class on October 14th in the Community Garden at 11 am-12 pm, “Learn to Compost” is being offered. Each attendee will receive a free tumbling composter and a free zero-water tree. RSVP is required for this class at www.pphcsd.org/events This month’s last class is a Kids Halloween Baking Class for ages 5-12 on Saturday the 21st from 10 am-12 pm in the Phelan Senior Center. Kids can have fun learning to make Mummy Hot Dogs and Frankenstein Rice Crispy Treats. RSVP is required at www.pphcsd.org. An adult must accompany minors.
