San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested David Lee Jeffries for Grand Theft Auto in Pinon Hills.
On Saturday, September 24, 2022, at 5:50 pm, deputies responded to a call reporting that somebody was on their property stealing an antique school bus. Deputies arrived at the location in the neighborhood near Yucca Terrace and Pionero Road in Pinon Hills to find David Lee Jeffries, a 52-year-old resident of Phelan, attempting to leave the property with the antique school bus attached to his semi-truck. According to the caller, who is building a new home on the property, someone had recently stolen an antique fire engine from the same location. It is unknown if the antique fire engine was recovered or if Jeffries was also involved with that theft.
Jeffries was arrested for grand theft auto and booked at the High Desert Detention Center and is currently held in lieu of $50,000 bail. This investigation is still ongoing, and the Sheriff is asking anyone with information to contact Deputy A. Hahalkin at the Victor Valley Sheriff’s Station at 760-552-6800.
