Two local arts organizations, Drawing Together and Wrightwood Arts Center, have teamed up to bring a new art space to the Tri-Community. The organizations have announced they will open a new location this fall, centrally located in Wrightwood’s downtown area at 6045 Park Dr. in Wrightwood. The art center will offer art education classes for children, workshops for adults, and sales of art supplies and books. It will also include an art gallery to showcase local and regional artists.

Research has shown that a community centered around the arts can increase property values, student test scores, and other positive health indicators. Both organizations are excited to provide this artistic space to the Tri-Community. As a community-run space, everyone is encouraged to be involved to help support this creative hub. The organizations are asking for feedback and input from the community to create a responsive community space, and the public is encouraged to complete their online survey.

Are you a local artist looking to share your artwork or talents? Any interested artists are encouraged to reach out to the organizations, complete the survey, and sign up for one of the organization’s newsletters. Even if you may not consider yourself creative, there are still many ways to contribute and volunteer. For those in the community who are interested in supporting the space through gallery sitting or other volunteer donations, please email the organizations directly at info@DrawingTogether.CITY and info@wrightwoodarts.com or complete the mentioned survey. A list of items for donation will also be created, which includes furniture and other items.

The organizations are now eager to begin art classes for younger audiences. Initial classes will be offered starting in late October of 2023, including early childhood classes for young children ages 2-4 and an after-school arts program on Thursdays for students in 1st-5th grades. Classes for homeschooled students are planned to be offered as well. More information on class schedules and pricing can be viewed on the Drawing Together website at www.DrawingTogether.city, and parents who are interested in enrolling their children can also register directly online.

Future plans include music lessons that will also be offered, such as private piano classes taught by talented Wrightwood musician Jeremiah Gonzalez. Soon, adult workshops will be rolled out and offered based on interest, and the organizations plan to host a grand opening of the space in early Novmber. Be sure to follow them on social media @WrightwoodArts or @DrawingTogether.city to stay updated on more information to come.
