The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department “Lady Be Aware” classes are back after a summer break. Two classes will be held in September on Saturday the 19th and on the 26th from 8am to 5pm at the Sheriff’s Department Training Center located at 18901 Institution Road in Devore.
The one-day, eight hour training is open to women aged 16 and older and designed to equip women with the knowledge, skills, and mindset needed to protect themselves from potential threats to their personal safety. The first half of the course is classroom-based to learn to recognize and avoid potential dangers in various environments. The second half of the course involves 2 hours of hands-on training including weaponless defensive tactics, and 2 hours focused on shooting and fire arm safety.
Those under 18 can enroll with a guardian. The cost of the training is $75 per person. Due to its popularity, spots fill up quickly, so early registration is encouraged. To reserve your September place, email [email protected]. Payment must be made with a credit card within 24 hours of registering. A valid California drivers license is required to enroll, and additional course details will be provided by email upon registration. The upcoming courses are scheduled for October 17th and 24th, and November 14th.
