The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department is offering the Lady Be Aware training, an 8-hour course designed to teach women safety strategies, self-defense techniques, and firearm safety. The course will take place on Saturday, April 12, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Sheriff’s Department Training Center, located at 18901 Institution Road in Devore.

The Lady Be Aware course covers various aspects of personal safety, including cyber safety, home safety, situational awareness, and physical safety. The training helps women understand potential risks in different situations and teaches them how to avoid danger. Participants will learn how to assess potentially hazardous situations and respond appropriately to stay safe.

The course also includes hands-on self-defense training, where participants will learn techniques to defend themselves effectively in the event of an attack. Additionally, the program provides guidance on safely using a firearm.

The cost of the course is $75. To register, email the date you would like to attend to [email protected]. Attendees must provide a valid California Driver’s License to enroll. Once registration is confirmed, information regarding payment will be sent. Only credit cards are accepted.

Participants should wear comfortable clothing suitable for physical activity. Please note that flip-flops and shorts are not allowed.

Classes fill up quickly, so early registration is encouraged. The next session will be held on Saturday, May 17, 2025.
