The Phelan-Piñon Hills CSD Parks & Recreation Department’s free summer events for the Tri-Community continue through the end of July. From Movies in the Park and Painting in the Park to kids’ archery lessons and Community Teaching Garden classes, there’s something for everyone to enjoy without any cost.
A family favorite is the Summer Movie Nights, held on Friday evenings at dusk in the Phelan Community Park during July. Attendees are encouraged to bring their chairs and blankets. The movie lineup includes “Wish” on July 12, “The Super Mario Bros Movie” on July 19, and “Trolls Band Together” on July 26. Hosted by the Tri-Community Kiwanis, Friday night movies are free, and no RSVP is required.
The PPHCSD also offers complimentary fun classes for kids and adults during the summer. Classes are free, but RSVP is required at www.pphcsd.org/sign-up-for-classes, and an adult must accompany minors.
Painting in the Park with Shine Bright Paint will take place on Thursdays, July 11, 18, and 25. Classes for ages 5-12 will be held at 9 a.m., and for ages 13 and up, at 11 a.m. RSVP is required.
Kids’ archery lessons with the Mojave Archers will be offered at 4093 Olivera Road in Phelan on Thursday, July 11, 18, and 25, from 9 a.m.-11 a.m., with bows and arrows provided during class. RSVP is required.
The Community Teaching Garden class, taught by Master Gardener Michelle Hannon, will be held every second Saturday of the month at 10 a.m. at the Phelan Community Park. Each month, the class will cover a different topic. July’s topic is mulch/watering wisely. The classes are free, and no RSVP is required. All ages are welcome. With such a diverse range of events, the summer promises to be an exciting time for the Tri-Community.
