Long-awaited changes have come to the intersection of Johnson Road and Duncan Road in Phelan.
Two more stop signs were installed, making this intersection a four-way stop.
Just shy of noon on October 5th, 2022, the intersession at Johnson Road at Duncan Road officially become a four-way stop. Locals have long expressed the need for a four-way stop because of countless vehicle collisions, from fender benders to tragic fatalities at this location over the years. Over the last three years, vehicle collision accidents have averaged about 2 per month. With stop signs at each of the four corners, which now also include flags and flashing lights, maybe, over the long run, will reduce the number of collisions. A few days early to the stop sign installation, on Saturday, October 1st, a major collision occurred at this location with unknown injuries to those involved. However, one vehicle was upside down, and the other had horrible front-end damage.
