The New Norm: Local churches are adapting to the new norm of social distanced services. Pastor Daouda gives a Sunday evening sermon in the shade of the Church's newly constructed building.

As 6:00pm approached on Sunday, July 19, folks arrived at the Fountain of Living Waters Church on Johnson Road in Phelan with smiling faces and happy hearts, because their church had reopened with Sunday Service held outside during the cooler part of the day.

Ample seating was arranged in front of the church entrance, shaded by the newly constructed church. This gave this small congregation an amazing view of the culmination of their hard work, faith prayers, and donations. They were proud to sit outside their new church as they began to sing, pray, and listen to God’s word, together with their church family.

Pastor Daouda Traore opened his talk with a passionate plea to his congregation, “the Coronavirus is not a hoax, people are dying from this and we need to pray for them! Pray for our family and our safety!  Pray for Governor Newsom.  Do not call him names or curse him! How are you helping anyone if you curse them? Pray for him, and all our government officials.”  Then he stopped and said, “let us pray; we are a praying church.”

For several months churches have not been able to gather due to social distancing.  This church held Easter Service sitting in their cars listening to Pastor Daouda on a PA System, which was a touching experience that everyone made the best of.

Pastor Daouda has offered online service and bible study with complete dedication throughout the pandemic to keep his church group together.  Many parishioners have attended this church for over 20 years, with new members being baptized regularly.

The Pastor’s amazing wife, Danielle, has worked with 15 or more volunteers at the church to gather food for their pantry to offer food to those in need.  Recently they connected with a program that distributed food to churches and was able to give out food to 800 people over two days.

On July 30, members of the Phelan Fountain of Living Water Church helped give out 1500 school backpacks at the SBC Fairgrounds in Victorville at the annual backpack giveaway.

Services are held at 10120 Johnson Road in Phelan at 6:00pm every Sunday.  And at 6:00am every morning on Facebook Live, Pastor holds daily prayer and devotion, everyone is welcome.  The food pantry is Wednesday, 1:00pm to 3:00pm and Saturday 10:00am to noon at the church.
