February is Love Your Library Month. Wrightwood Library and Phelan Memorial Library are inviting the Tri-Community to come and learn the different ways you can love your library. Through the hard work of the Friends of the Library, the library is able to offer numerous activities, programs and special events to the Tri-Community. These volunteers help support the library’s needs by their many fundraisers during the year. Besides providing funds to the Library’s Summer Reading Programs, newly released DVDs, supplies for unique events and some special equipment, the Friends are the major source of income for new books.
Wrightwood Library Bookstore, managed by the Friends of the Library, offers a large variety of books donated by the community. Fiction (hard and soft cover) including a large section of Science Fiction and Fantasy. Also, Children, Young Adult, and Teen books. Non-Fiction including History, Biography, Autobiography, Travel, Native American, Women’s Studies, Languages, Classics, Cooking, Self-Help, Diet, Religion, Animals, and the Arts. Also, DVD’s and CD’s. You can’t beat the prices. Hardcovers $1, Oversized Paperbacks .50, Paperbacks .25 or 5 for $1. Children and Teens books; Hardcovers .50, Paperbacks .10, and DVD’s $1, CD’s .50 Every Wednesday is Half Price for Seniors, Military, and First Responders. New books are added daily!
Also, Wrightwood Library holds their monthly Auction. Check out the books to be auctioned and make your bids. Check with the library for details.
Phelan Library also has a Book Store with a big selection of books for all ages and interests with great prices. The Book Stores is open during regular branch hours. Phelan Library is offering a Family Paint Night for all ages on Wednesday, February 22nd at 5pm. This is a step by step painting class. You will be able to take your masterpiece home.
The Friends of the Library meets once a month. The meeting in Phelan is on the first Wednesday at the library from 5:30pm. Wrightwood meets on the second Wednesday at the library from 3:30pm. The Friends are actively recruiting for new members. Anyone wishing to join the Friends of the Library can do so! For further membership details call each library.
