The Catfish Derby 2023 will take place from August 1st to August 31st at Mojave Narrows Regional Park, Glen Helen Regional Park, and Cucamonga-Guasti Regional Park, all of which are managed by San Bernardino Regional Parks. This fishing competition is open to the public and welcomes anglers of all ages. The heaviest catfish caught at each Regional Park will be awarded prizes, including three 1st place awards ($500 each), three 2nd place awards ($300 each), and three 3rd place awards ($100 each). There will also be a prize of $1000 for the overall heaviest catfish caught. To participate, a vehicle day pass, Day Fishing Permit, and Derby Entry Permit must be obtained. These can be purchased upon arrival and before the start of the derby. The Derby fee is $5, and the Park entry fee is $8 on weekdays and $10 on weekends. The Fishing fee is $10 per person Monday-Wednesday and $12 per person Thursday-Sunday. Participants aged 16 and over must have a State Fishing License, which must be presented along with a valid photo ID when purchasing the Derby Entry Permit.
