Red, green, hot or mild; the choice is yours at the annual Chili Cook-Off and Salsa recipe tasting event, Saturday, October 9, 2021 from 11am-4pm.Cook-Off festivities include sampling chili and salsa; Chili, Chili Billies and Willy Wienies for sale; a team Corn Hole tournament; a Jalapeño Eating contest; the Chamber’s 50/50 drawing; music and a beer garden. Activities are held at the Wrightwood Community Building and parking lot, 1275 Hwy 2 off Park Drive.
Salsa tasting starts at 11am until gone or 1:30pm, whichever comes first. Day of salsa entries will be accepted at the community building from 9-10:30am. Categories are Hot, Medium/Mild, and Anything Goes. A $5 per entry fee with your application and list of ingredients is required. Salsa tasting chip bag kits are $3 per person and are available at the community center.
Chili tasting begins at noon until it’s gone. Chili tasting kits can be purchased at the Chamber booth for $5. It’s recommended to come early to not miss out on the Chili or Salsa tasting events. The registration deadline for the Chili Cook-off contestants is October 7. Salsa recipe entries are taken on the day of the show – no limits. Cornhole tournament teams are encouraged to pre-register for the event but day of registration will also be accepted.
Registration for the Jalapeño Eating contest and team Cornhole tournament begins at 11am near the Chamber Booth. There is no charge to enter Jalapeño contest. The Jalapeño Eating contest will be held at noon for the first 10 people to enter and sign a waiver. Entry fee for teams for the Cornhole tournament is $25. Competition starts at noon. There are cash prize for all contests at the Chili Cook-Off. Winners and cash prizes for the Cook-Off will be awarded at 3pm.
